  • KU Leuven will be 600 years old this year and during the weekend of 15 and 16 February, this will be celebrated with KU Leuven "Inside/Insight".

During this festive weekend, you can meet the researchers of the Public Law department in two stops in De Valk.

The state of our democratic constitutional state:
​​This stop takes a closer look at the rule of law, the separation of powers and the protection of fundamental rights. Come and listen to Martien Schotsmans, Bart Willockx and Hugo Lamon on the separation of powers on Saturday at 2 p.m., and on Sunday at the same time to Eva Brems, Koen Lemmens and Frank Judo on the protection of fundamental rights. On the basis of stimulating statements throughout the rest of the day, you can join the debate on these themes!

This stop will be provided by colleagues Paul Lemmens, David D'Hooghe, Koen Lemmens, Emma De Clercq, Arvid Rochtus, Charlotte Teuwens, Eva Albers, Thibaut Lesseliers, and Stien Dethier.

Law and climate: can the law save our planet in time?
This stop reflects on the relationship between law on the one hand and climate and sustainability on the other, and how the former can promote the latter two. On both Saturday and Sunday, you can spend the whole day learning about the research on this subject at our faculty, and join the debate on these themes. Duty of Care, Nic Balthazar's documentary about the climate case against Shell, will be shown continuously and will be followed on Saturday at 1 pm by a debate with the director and climate activist. On Sunday (11 am and 1 pm) you can follow "mini-climate cases" through moot court competitions of students.
