Wim Vandenberghe
Wim Vandenberghe is Counsel at Dechert LLP (Brussels).
Mr. Vandenberghe is an LL.B. graduate from K.U.Leuven. In 2002, he obtained his LL.M degree at the University of Edinburgh and at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy in Dundee. Between 2002 and 2004, he was a research fellow at Edinburgh Law School. He has authored several articles and book chapters on energy as well as competition law and is often a speaker at (inter)national legal conferences. At Dechert, Wim advises on the full range of energy law matters, including EU and Belgian regulatory and compliance counseling, energy contracts & projects, litigation as well as renewable energy and climate change matters.
He has also advised extensively on competition law issues in the energy sector, and provided consultancy to the Belgian Federal Minister of Energy with regard to the GdF/SUEZ merger.
Mr. Vandenberghe further provides guidance on EU general law, with particular emphasis on internal market law (free movement).He has presented cases before the European Commission, the European Court of Justice, Belgian courts and the Belgian competition authority, as well as before the Belgian federal and regional energy sector regulators.
