Damien Meadows

Meadows.jpgDamien Meadows is the Head of the European Commission's unit responsible for the International Carbon Market - aviation and maritime. Prior to that, from 2006, he was the Deputy Head of the European Commission's unit responsible for the EU emissions trading Scheme. Between 2000 and 2004, he worked on the drafting, negotiation and implementation of the EU ETS, the EU's ratification of the Kyoto Protocol and other climate-related legislation. In addition, he has been involved in the negotiation of the REACH law that comprehensively reforms EU chemicals regulation.

He has a LLB in European Law and has worked in the field of environmental law since 1996. Before joining the European Commission in 2000, he worked as a solicitor and legal adviser for the UK government's Department of Environment, Transport and the Regions, and for the United Nations Climate Change Secretariat at the 4th Conference of the Parties.
