Javier de Cendra de Larragan
Javier de Cendra, PhD, LLM, is senior researcher in energy and environmental law at the University College London (UCL) Energy Institute and the Faculty of Laws, where he also teaches international environmental law. Before joining UCL, Javier studied law and economics at Universidad Carlos II de Madrid, energy and environmental law at KU Leuven and did his PhD in EU climate change law and policy at Maastricht University. He has worked as an environmental consultant doing work for the European Commission, and has advised the English government (UK Government Office for Science) on the impacts of the future international climate change regime on the United Kingdom.
Javier publishes regularly on different aspects of international and European energy and environmental law, including market-based mechanisms, interactions between climate law and trade law, state compliance with international climate change law, domestic legal frameworks for energy, and regulatory mechanisms for the promotion of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency. His research interests include energy and environmental law generally, climate change governance, and environmental ethics and justice.
