Harold Nyssens

 

 

 

Born in 1969, Harold Nyssens is currently a member of the cabinet of European Commissioner Damanaki in charge of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. After spending 5 years clerking at the Court of First Instance of the European Communities, for several years he worked in the European Commission department dealing with antitrust policy in the energy sector. He contributed, in this context, to the energy sector inquiry. Subsequently he was in charge of state aid policy in several Commission departments.

 

He is a visiting lecturer at the University of Bonn's MERNI programme (2007 – to date). Amongst other publications, he co-authored the chapter devoted to the energy sector in the renowned book EC Law of Competition edited by Faull & Nikpay (2007). He also contributed to the Berliner Kommentar zum Energierecht (2010).
