Lennart Deridder
Dr Lennart Deridder (b. 1971), Ph.D. in Energy Law. Policy Officer in Energy Efficiency, European Commission.
Lennart Deridder graduated from the Law Faculty of Leuven University in june 1995. In 1996 was granted a fellowship at the University of Leuven at the Institute of Administrative Law, and was called to the Brussels Bar. His law practice focused on energy and telecommunication networks and public procurement files. He obtained a Ph.D. degree at Leuven University in September 2002 on the liberalization of the Belgian gas and electricity sectors. During his fellowship he performed numerous studies in the field of energy law for Belgian federal and regional authorities and authored several books and articles on the subject.
In 2002 he became manager legal and regulatory affairs of Nuon Belgium nv, a new entrant on the Belgian energy market. He represented the Belgian energy traders in the General Council of the Belgian regulator for electricity and gas (CREG) and was a member of the User Group of the Belgian TSO (Elia).
In 2004 he joined the European Court of Justice as an official, and is currently active as Policy Officer in Energy Efficiency at the European Commission.
