Travel

Arriving by Plane

If travelling by plane to Belgium, you will land at Brussels Airport, also known as Zaventem Airport or Brussels International Airport. The airport has its own railway station, where you can take a train directly to Leuven.

Arriving by Train

It is easy to reach Leuven by train from either London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Brussels or Brussels Airport. Belgium operates a policy of cheap rail travel, with students enjoying cheaper fares.

Navigate to the site of the NMBS (Nationale Maatschappij der Belgische Spoorwegen - National Company of Belgian Railroads) where you can find online the train best suiting your time of arrival.

Arriving by Car

Leuven can easily be reached by car, since it is situated near a number of main motorways (E40 and E314).

If you come from Brussels:
- Follow the E40 highway to the E314 highway to Genk/Hasselt/Leuven
- Take exit 15: LEUVEN exit “Leuven centrum”(centre of Leuven town)

Upon Arrival in Leuven

If you arrive in Leuven by train, travelers immediately enter the heart of the city. The station is situated in the centre of the city and close by there is one of the busiest bus stations in Belgium. With a lot of luggage, taking the bus to one’s destination can be helpful. If you need information about the bus network, visit the website of the Flemish bus company, called the De Lijn (in English The Line).

For further information, visit “Travelling to Leuven”.
