The KULeuven Blackboard: Toledo
Toledo is the personalised educational portal at the K.U.Leuven. The core of Toledo consists of the Blackboard Suite (Learning, Community Portal en Content System), an electronic learning platform. To make use of the Toledo platform, one needs to be subscribed to the K.U.Leuven, as a student number and password are needed to enter it. To enter the Toledo site for a specific course, one generally needs to be enrolled in that course. A student enrolment in the Toledo-site will be automated through his ISP (Individual Study Programme), which is activated when the student subscribes to the criminology programme. In the electronic learning environment, students also have direct access to their student file and their webmail. Ultimately, each student will have access to Toledo.
Toledo and the Master Programme
Toledo is a heavily used tool of lecturers at LINC. Every course has its own webpage. These Toledo pages distribute slides and texts (compulsory as well as optional ones) to students. Users can find a lot of information, including examination methods, on the Toledo webpage of given courses. One of the more important applications of Toledo pages is the “announcement” section, where lecturers and their assistants post a variety of information, including rescheduling of courses or answers to practical questions. The site also enables enrolled students to send e-mails to one another. For group assignments, group pages can be constructed to enable online cooperation between students.
Books, Readers and Copies
There are two main locations where students can get books and readers required for studying the Master courses: the Acco and the student copy service. The Acco sells books and readers not provided by the student copy service. Thus, the best course of action is for students to first determine which books and readers the student copy service provides.

The Acco-bookstore has a strong link with the university. Many courses are published and sold in this store. It can be found on the map.

The Student Copy Service
This service is governed by students of the student union (read more about the student union at After Class Life). They provide fellow students with the compulsory readings for courses and sell certain books at a cheap rate. In Dutch, this is called the “CuDi” or the “Cursusdienst”.
