September 2001 Plenary Session of the Commission for Real Property Claims of Displaced Persons and Refugees (CRPC)

Following its September plenary session, the CRPC has adopted a total of 176,243 final and binding decisions confirming the property rights of displaced persons and refugees.

To date, the CRPC has accepted 230,459 claim applications, relating to 301,347 properties and 340,343 claimants. This means that the Commission has accepted more claim applications and issued more decisions than the competent domestic bodies.

The Parties to the Dayton Peace Agreement are reminded of their obligation under Annex 7, "to cooperate with the Commission, respect and implement its decisions expeditiously and in good faith, in cooperation with relevant organizations having responsibility for the return and reintegration of refugees and displaced persons".

Although the Commission is still collecting claims, it should be noted that its priority for the forthcoming period is to increase the enforcement rate of its decisions.
