International Law Association

The International Law Association has around 50 branches worldwide and a growing membership of academics and practising professionals with an interest in international law. Although the organization was founded in Belgium, its Belgian branch had become inactive over the last decade. The branch was therefore revived under the aegis of prof. dr. Kim Van der Borght (VUB) as an interuniversity initiative. The main objectives of the Association are the study, clarification and development of both public and private international law. These aims are pursued through the work of various International Committees, and biennial conferences provide a forum for comprehensive discussion and endorsement for the work of these committees. Each national branch also develops its own initiatives (conferences, luncheon lectures, news letters) and furthermore members often enjoy special rates for activities of other organizations.

How to become a member?

If you are interested to become a member, please complete the membership form and return it to prof. dr. Kim Van der Borght (Kim.Van.der.Borght@vub.ac.be). When you register, you will receive our newsletter and be informed about our forthcoming opening conference which is due in the course of Spring 2008.
