"I felt the need to gain a better understanding of the regulations and legal issues in the field of ICT and Media Law, as the IP practice I had been working in for two years had evolved more and more towards ICT law.
The Postgraduate Studies in ICT and Media Law at the KUL allowed me to become more familiar with certain of the more complex topics in these rapidly evolving domains.
Not only the purely legal modules, but also the technical courses lectured by specialists gave me fundamental insights, which have already proven their use in practice.
The courses are structured in such a way that there is a good balance between the theory and the practical application thereof.
The visiting lecturers, professors and researchers at ICRI are very approachable.
The flexibility that is possible is much appreciated, especially when combining the Postgraduate Studies with a full-time job.

  • Participants are required to have obtained a Masters degree (or equivalent) in Law.
  • Exceptions may be allowed on the basis of specific circumstances and after an evaluation of the participant's background, level of knowledge and experience and skills.
  • It is not required to be familiar with ICT & media law; an interest, however, in these subjects is of course expected.
  • Students are expected to have a proficient level of written and spoken English. We accept TOEFL (minimum 250 for Computer-based test or 100 for Internet-based test), IELTS (minimum score required 7.5) and Cambridge (proficiency level) certificates.
  • Admissibility to the programme will be assessed on the basis of an examination of the full applications by the programme's selection committee.
  • If you are a non-EEA student, we advise you to apply as soon as possible, given that a visa will be required to study in Leuven.
  • You will be notified on the outcome of your application within one month of your application. If duly motivated, you may request an accelerated evaluation of your application.
