Data Privacy and Information Security Law

Welcome to the home page of the Data Privacy and Information Security Law research group.

The activities of this group relate to all legal aspects of the information society in general and the Internet in particular. The most important focus of the group is on the legal aspects of information security. On this topic the principal areas of research concern electronic signatures and PKI, electronic archiving, personal data protection and identity management. Other key areas of research relate to: e-government, electronic commerce, electronic fund transfer, Internet content control, ICT-contracts and -conflicts, ICT-related intellectual property rights and law enforcement in cyberspace.

In its most recent publications, the group deals with recent developments in Belgian and European electronic signature law, legal issues of standardisation, recent developments in Belgian and European data protection law, legal aspects of long-term electronic archiving, legal issues relating to anonymity services and identity management, the regulatory framework for access and re-use of public information and legal issues with regard to geographical information systems
